Distinctly Different Response Characteristics
Designed for vehicles driven hard on track, RP-X™ possesses a high friction level of 0.55 between 0 – 750°C (Ambient – 1400°F) and achieves a 100% brake effect from cold. This makes RP-X™ an excellent choice for sprint racing or hill climb events, where full brake performance is essential without requiring any ‘warming up’, but also makes RP-X™ well suited to any type of circuit use where a high initial bite and powerful brake response is desirable.

EBC Racing would like to emphasise that it is not a case of RP-X™ being ‘better’ than RP-1™, rather it is ‘different’ and designed to provide a distinctly different response characteristic (more aggressive bite) which some drivers may prefer. Does This Brake Pad Fit Your Needs?
The EBC RP‑X compound is a full race‑grade track pad that’s tuned for maximum stopping power and strong initial bite, with a high and stable friction coefficient (~0.55 μ) across cold to very high temperatures (~0–850 °C). That means 100% brake effectiveness right off cold and sustained performance deep into hard sessions - ideal for sprint racing, time attack, and marquee track days.

Compared with the smoother‑feel RP‑1, RP‑X gives you more aggressive bite and higher overall brake torque, accelerating retardation with less pedal travel. This makes it a great fit for heavier cars, high‑powered builds, and cars with under‑servoed brake systems that benefit from extra authority at the caliper.

Because of its high friction and race focus, expect higher rotor wear and more dust versus milder track compounds - a common trade‑off when chasing peak performance.
